Production: Once Upon A Time, A Clown Fell In Love With a Ballerina

Synopsis: A curious toy clown discovers a box while sweeping the floor one day. Innocently investigating he clumsily discovers that it is more than just a box it is opened revealing a dancing ballerina. The sudden discovery seems minuscule when he stumbles upon an even greater sight through the curtains backstage. A real toy ballerina!

She dances for the audience and the clown has never seen such beauty. Within the confines of the toy maker's circus the ballerina is the star attraction. Her life seems limited until one day she too is curious to make the acquaintances of the clown. The meeting does not excite the toy maker, who not long ago finished creating the ballerina, and has become quite taken with her.

The toys question their lives owed to their creator and try to follow a faithful existence, but are unable to ignore their feelings of love for each other.

Breakdowns

1. Ballerina/ 18-25 yrs/ Caucasian. She is an expressionless doll. She dances for the toy maker. She appears disciplined and mechanical, she is proper, graceful, there is something inside of her, untapped, unsure of what she is missing in her life. She does what she knows, which is dancing for the toy maker. Her life literally circles around her dancing. There is a curiosity and intrigue towards the clown.

2. Clown/25-30 yrs/ Caucasian. Sweeps around the toy maker, curious and innocent. He must have the ability to react with his body yet still be light on his feet. There is a huge heart inside of the clown yet he is alone. He works for the toy maker like a hired hand. There is an instant attraction towards the ballerina. He puts thought into everything he does and this comes through in his actions. He demonstrates a gentle caring.

3. Toy Maker/30-40 yrs/Any Ethnicity. Slithery and sneaky, longs to have the ballerina in his grip. He is not completely evil. He is enchanted by the ballerina with her talent and beauty. He is aware of the clown's lack of confidence and could be a friend to the clown yet he treats him more like a servant. He is dominant when on stage, he attracts attention. The toy maker is mature, wise and tricky. He enjoys entertaining himself with the toys that he surrounds himself with which reveals his selfishness.
