Breakdowns

(Lead) DALE MOXAM Gender: MALE Age: Middle-aged: Neurotic, funny, clumsy, talker, moody, quirky Dale is a distinctive-looking character and should have good slap-stick humour and/or improvisational humour. He is an awkward intellectual who is constantly being disappointed by people and the world in general. Dale works as a payroll officer for a bank, and finds little fulfillment in his job. He loves his wife Lucie, however, and their relationship is a good one. After losing his recycling bin for the second time in a month, Dale loses it and blames humanity for being immoral. He is disgusted at the idea that someone would steal someone else’s bin, but when he tries several times to get a new bin in several different ways, his failures build up his frustration until finally, he reaches his breaking point and ends up stealing a bin himself.

(Principal) LUCIE MOXAM: Gender: FEMALE Age: Middle-aged: Calm, quiet, monotonous, dead-pan, smart, Lucie is a cute woman who is very young at heart. She has a dead-pan sense of humour and likes Dale for his oddness. She is accepting of Dale’s various idiosyncrasies, and always tries to keep him calm when he flips out at everyday things. She works as a graphical designer in a midsized company and is fairly content with her life. Lucie is not very concerned with the blue bin situation, but tries to pacify Dale by providing suggestions on how he can go about getting a new recycling bin.
