Production: Guidance (Short Film)

SYNOPSIS:

In this comedic short film, we follow Stephen Hanson (37), a high school guidance counselor who believes strongly in the power of inspiration. Usually, Stephen deals with students who already have an idea of what they want to do with their lives. For the most part, these students already see themselves doing everyday 9-5 things, "normal" jobs. Stephen, who regrets never going after his teenage dream of becoming a famous drummer, oftentimes tries to push the students of his high school to chase after their dreams no matter how lofty they may be. 99.9% of the time, the students think of Stephen as crazy when he proposes they go after the unlikely. However, when Stephen meets a student named Anna, he is finally faced with an opportunity to make someone follow their dreams.

This film is to be shot in the mock-umentary style ("Spinal Tap", "The Office"). The run time will be approximately 8 minutes. We are going into the 2nd draft stages of the script at this point. The script does not involve any major swearing, or obscenities. The target demographic for this film is anyone from 15-50. Thank you for your time!

1. Female / 31-40 yrs. / Any Ethnicity. KAREN HANSON : - Karen is a 35 year old dental hygenist who is often annoyed with her husband Stephen’s obsession with inspiring his students. She feels that he is merely living vicariously through them and not at all guiding them in the practical way that he should be.

2. Female / 18-24 yrs. / Any Ethnicity. ANNA LYTLE: - Anna is an 18 year old who is very academically gifted. She is influenced by her parents who desperately want her to go into nursing, a field that she would surely excel in. However, Anna’s true passion lies in music, specifically with the violin. (actor does not need to have any musical background).

3. Male / 41-50 yrs. / Any Ethnicity. STEPHEN HANSON: - Stephen is a 40 year old high school guidance counselor. He enjoys his job for the most part, but is becoming slightly fed up with students lack of motivation. Stephen desires to inspire students to follow their dreams, no matter how big or impossible they may be.
